Then, when a few B-29s were too damaged to make the long flight back to the island and diverted to Russia, they confiscated the planes and imprisoned their crews until the end of the war.

Both of those, and they force engagements with Russia to force them to throw men and materiel at it, further depleting Russian stockpiles.

The best reason I’ve heard speculated is that Russia has stopped doing big advances, which will make it much harder for Ukraine to force losses in a war of attrition. By opening up this front they’re forcing the Kremlin to throw more soldiers at them to be ground into sunflower fertilizer.

The problem with “It’s self-documenting” is that there are inevitably questions about what it says, and there’s no additional resources to pull from.

Totally agree. And I’d argue that we don’t even need technical writers. Even if all people do is correct grammar and spelling mistakes it would be helpful, let alone actually writing docs. It’s one of the easiest ways non-technical folks can get involved with open source projects.
