Even a fragment of the infinite is boundless. Hope always endures. 🌌
Thanks for doing the extra labor here.
Had to look up several articles to better understand the shortage and it is still not entirely clear to me. Seems to be numerous factors all affecting Japan at the same time. I don’t envy them. increased prices in staple foods is really hard.
I suppose the quotation marks are pretty loaded these days…
But honestly, when you’ve lived on the other side of things… as bad as it gets in the “West”… many people will still sacrifice everything to make their way there, where a better life might be found… even if many of those countries are actively trying to keep immigrants out… 🫤
And nothing will be done.
I’m so tired, just trying to keep up.
I don’t know how any Gazans can bear to live under this.
They need help. They need hope.
How long must this continue? How long will the “free world” continue to allow this?
😫
I hear that welcoming migrants is a great way to address this problem…
I think people like this need to be immediately referred to behavior health specialists. They are clearly in need of some serious healing. Regardless of how you feel, you don’t need to be a horrible human AND ruin things for others.
Why can’t they just be horrible humans… quietly?
I was wondering if this would happen. Now I know. 😒
M’kay, Mr. Pope. Nothing ironic or hypocritical about this statement at all…
I did some reading on this. Looks like the UN 1967 Outer Space Treaty and the 1972 Liability Convention define the “launching state” as being liable for damage caused by space objects, both on Earth and in outer space. Off the latter:
In 1978, the crash of the nuclear-powered Soviet satellite Kosmos 954 in Canadian territory led to the only claim filed under the convention.
Anyway, for the US, the FAA requires companies to carry liability insurance for potential damages caused by their launches. U.S. law caps the company’s liability. The government may cover damages exceeding this cap, but only up to a certain amount.
Basically, SpaceX would likely be responsible for initial claims up to their insurance limits. Beyond that, the U.S. government would step in. Considering how wealthy Mr Musk is, I don’t think taxpayers should be paying a dime to clean a his mess… but the US government is contracting SpaceX.
Why would the taxpayers be liable?
But to what end? Would SpaceX be found liable for anything? Would any penalty matter?
More than 120,000 when including death from disease and malnutrition (see https://truthout.org/articles/us-health-workers-back-from-gaza-estimate-death-toll-is-at-least-119000/)
It’s so much worse. This is just due to direct violence, but there has been more than 120,000 when including death from disease and malnutrition (see https://truthout.org/articles/us-health-workers-back-from-gaza-estimate-death-toll-is-at-least-119000/). It’s infuriating and gut wrenching. 😖
Hmm. I’ve done a little reading and can see how see pulled away from the public eye. And it was warranted, especially considering how she was treated by the public at times and how the paparazzi assailed her. I’m still a little confused by the idea that she was an elusive creature because of how involved she still was in things, especially after Aristotle’s death.
So while the cartoon didn’t fully hit home for me, I did get to go on a number of rabbit trails of the kind which I always enjoy. Another TIL moment for myself. 😁
Haha! It’s the small things in life, perhaps especially the small mistakes. 😁
Help me understand this cartoon. If you remove Jackie, I get it and find it funny. However, add her in and it’s confusing to me. She was JFKs widow, right? I did a little reading about her, but didn’t pick up why the creator added her amongst the fabled beasts…
Edit: “breasts” to “beasts,” because while I’m largely ignorant regarding Jackie Kennedy, she probably deserves better than my silly misspelling.
On second read, I object to my own use. Even updated as a result.
So how are them tires working for ya? 😏
