Israel is preparing legal action against The New York Times after the newspaper published an article describing the rapes of Palestinian prisoners in its custody.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced its decision to sue on X on Thursday, after the paper doubled down in its defence of the report.

“Nicholas Kristof’s deeply reported piece of opinion journalism starts with a proposition to readers: ‘Whatever our views of the Middle East conflict, we should be able to unite in condemning rape,'” a spokesperson for The New York Times said.

Kristof’s story contained harrowing testimonies of the rape of Palestinians by Israeli soldiers, which included accounts of prisoners being mounted by dogs, penetrated by carrots, and rectums torn by batons.

Is it possible for nations to sue individuals of different nations? Like what court would this be filed under?

It’s baffling how it’s been over twenty years at this point and still essentially no one with influence has ever heard of the Streisand effect before. Like they’re obviously delusional, but it’s like their brains are sucked into vacuums.

Just really shows you how fucking delusional these God damn ghouls in Israel are. The New York Times just carries their water. As is their history they always go to bat for fascist regimes and they love to cover up genocides they’ve been doing it for a century. Certainly they’ve been doing it for Israel. Still though, not enough for those God damn demons in the state of Israel.

The judiciary is, by and large, owned and controlled by the ruling class. Don’t expect anything resembling justice to come from that system.

IANAL, but the discovery has nothing to do with the judiciary, it’s before the judge makes a ruling and it’s public.

They would want to do it on their turf where they don’t have discovery for themselves and all the judges are all in on genocide.

Other newspapers should definitely report that Israel is suing the NYT for reporting about rape in Israeli prisons.

Yes, it’s been caught on camera.

They have trained their dogs to do so as well, according to Palestinian testimony.

Didn’t the Bible say something about all nations turning against Israel right before the end of the world?

We’re making good strides in that direction. Let’s hurry up and see how it ends. I’ve had enough, TBH.

The trial would be conducted as a musical, so the investigation would be restricted to a twenty-minute baritone solo

Remember they exonerated Israeli IDF rapists and then gave then Medals on live television and they are now celebrated figures in Israel.

The entire culture is sick to the fucking core.

People don’t like to hear it but Israel is just a young, technologically-accelerated America, with Christofascism swapped for Zionazism. American families used to have block parties underneath the lynched bodies of black people.

I mean, there are literally videos of these Nazis raping a prisoner, they went to trial, the that genocidal state let them off without any punishment. After they returned home to parades and a heros welcome. There were actual terrorist raping a prisoner caught on video - then hailed as heros. Really disgusting scums I can’t understand why they even sue. For what? Everyone knows your terrorist forces will rape people. You can go watch the video right now. Wild.

Performative. Israel will never allow for discovery or let any leadership take the stand. Everyday I hope for more dead IDF. Every time a Zionist or any religious fundamentalist dies, the world moves closer to reason.

If your belief system says it’s okay to rape and murder others who don’t share your belief system, then your belief system should die.

Yes, and the problem is not having beliefs, but the organizations exploiting and weaponizing them.
