So I have been actively reducing my Internet usage mostly due to AI. So I was thinking of creating a curation of non AI content on the internet( as a project) but ngl avoiding the platforms makes me feel better😂.

So here was my question, are people on the internet fed up of AI or the social media itself? Would people actually want a curated feed of non AI content?

The reason why I am asking is, the algorithms. Like, creating a list of non AI art accounts on instagram might be something people want, but Instagram does recommend content that people aren’t even following, which I think defeats the purpose of the list. Similarly youtube, though I think for YouTube it makes sense. Btw all this was personal talk, feel free to ignore it and answer the question.

Thanks for replying. By AI I meant

    1. low effort, single prompt slops that are filling the internet

    2. Content that’s barely distinguishable as AI.

I see though, when I thought of curating non AI content, my first thought was, " why am I getting onto these platforms again" in my head it sounded like trying to pick best stuff on the internet, but then when it comes to Meta platforms, I mostly use it to chat with friends, And open Instagram links if I ever find one, or even check on a few content creators I follow. Same with YouTube shorts, I exclusively only watch omar agamy, a geopolitical news guy.

But yeah for most people like you, it’s just better to not go on the websites at all(it’s more peaceful). Like, even for me, if it’s about having a genuine conversation on Internet, I mostly come to lemmy, unless it’s a niche thing, only then I go to reddit. I guess it’s better this way, lol.

Thanks. I genuinely think it’s a good idea to avoid these sites, but having a conversation over it does help me think more clearly

I know many people who use meta platforms, and they don’t seem to be very happy with the material they find. AI slop is getting totally out of control over there.

When I want to talk to friends and family, I just give them a call, send an SMS or have a group chat on signal. I don’t need meta platforms for that.

YouTube is a mixed bag though. I still find some value in there, but that’s through sheer quantity of videos in there. Finding good ones is getting harder every year. Alternative platforms are getting better, but the selection seems to be pretty narrow by comparison.
