Thanks for replying. By AI I meant
low effort, single prompt slops that are filling the internet
Content that’s barely distinguishable as AI.
I see though, when I thought of curating non AI content, my first thought was, " why am I getting onto these platforms again" in my head it sounded like trying to pick best stuff on the internet, but then when it comes to Meta platforms, I mostly use it to chat with friends, And open Instagram links if I ever find one, or even check on a few content creators I follow. Same with YouTube shorts, I exclusively only watch omar agamy, a geopolitical news guy.
But yeah for most people like you, it’s just better to not go on the websites at all(it’s more peaceful). Like, even for me, if it’s about having a genuine conversation on Internet, I mostly come to lemmy, unless it’s a niche thing, only then I go to reddit. I guess it’s better this way, lol.
Thanks. I genuinely think it’s a good idea to avoid these sites, but having a conversation over it does help me think more clearly

Social media was tolerable when there was only one.

It does also sometimes stem from people’s inability to elaborate. Like if you dislike something, there’s a reason you hate it. That’s why I especially hate reviews like “it’s mid” or “it’s goated”/“it’s peak” like they barely help.

Nah, I guess it’s the right thing to try to engage in a productive discussion. Might sound stupid but lemmy is far smaller than traditional social media. It’s like a local tavern of social medias, and there’s isn’t an endless supply of trolls like there’s on other social medias. Besides having conversation with someone of opposing ideas is always welcomed.

Thing is, sometimes it takes more effort to know something than you have the energy to put.
I mean, I do still think those sites are dumpster fire, but there’s convenience of following few of your favorite artists, but to curate more, I need to go through that dumpster fire. That’s how I even know a few of them, because I doom scrolled a lot before. And I don’t like the idea of doing that again. Hence in another comment I said it’s better to not go there, and basically living with either the artists I already follow, or just not go to the site at all.
