President Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order broadening U.S. sanctions against the Cuban government, two White House officials told Reuters. He seeks to put more pressure on Havana, following his administration’s challenge to Venezuela’s leadership. The new sanctions target people, entities and affiliates supporting Cuba’s security apparatus, or those complicit in corruption or serious human rights violations, officials said. Government agents, officials or supporters are also included. It was not immediately clear which specific people or entities were impacted by the sanctions under the order, which Reuters first reported. The order authorizes secondary sanctions for conducting or facilitating transactions with those targeted under the order, officials said.

I really wish I could sympathize with the Cuban citizens on this, but they make it real hard. The Cuban puppet president, chosen by the Castro family, got up on stage and talked about war with the USA. Cuban citizens were taking videos of a rally in the streets supporting aggression with the USA.

All they have to do is lay low and keep their mouths shut for a while and then trade could start again. At the rate things are escalating, they might never see proper trade again until after a revolution.

As a Canadian, this does absolutely nothing.

You can do every single thing the americans are asking for, and the deals will STILL be thrown out the next day.

The difference between this and a genocide is that genocides generally aren’t opt-in. This shit isn’t happening in Trinidad. It’s not happening in Okinawa. It’s not happening in Madagascar. Can you figure out what ways Cuba is different?

That’s the thing fuckin tankies struggle with the most to understand, is that I don’t have to support either side of any conflict.

I insult that PDF file daily, but one thing I can absolutely assure you of is that the Cuban regime cannot survive without the people. If they were smart the people would be trying to reform and build analogical bridges. They would not be rallying behind their idiot “president” who is willing to sacrifice Cuban life in order to create slight advantages for Russian and Iranian conflicts.

As far as I’m concerned, the majority of Cubans are equivalent to MAGAts.

Are you even aware the horrors Trump has caused Cuba? USA has made a blockade so Cuba can’t get any oil, and people are fucking dying because of it!!

And you say they should just soak it up?
Fuck USA for being inhumane psychopaths, who want to be in control of the entire world, no matter how much harm it causes others. And fuck people like you for blaming the victim.

Cuba never did anything to USA, and USA has undermined the Cuban economy for more than 60 years now!!
USA is committing crimes against humanity, and what they do to Cuba is only one of them.

I’m not seeing the logic in the argument that more harm in the future is okay because of some harm now. If you were against harm then you would want less of it, now and in the future.

You are babbling and not making any sense whatsoever, I have no way to put a fitting context onto whatever those words are supposed to mean?
What is the more harm? more harm than what? What are the harms in the now and in the future?

All we know for sure is that USA has brought a lot of harm to Cuba, and Cuba has brought zero harm to USA.

Yes because Cuba is such a big powerful country, and USA is very scared of them. Therefore USA has tried to kill Cuban leaders multiple times, manipulated global markets to immense harm to the Cuban economy, sanctioned Cuba for 60 years, and is now blockading oil to Cuba so even hospitals can’t function, and people die.

And what is the crime Cuba did? Having free healthcare?

You may laugh, that’s OK, it only shows what kind of person you are.

If it’s so funny then you can easily provide us with a list of terrible harm Cuba has done to the US since Trump’s been in office. I’ll even give you back to his first presidency.

How has Cuba harmed the US since 2017? Be specific.

They continue to be militarily allied with the same sponsors of Venezuela and Iran, ironically those sponsors are the same countries that helped get Trump reelected, and once in history Cuba was used to field nuclear weapons aimed at the USA. Of course, that’s got absolutely nothing to do with why Trump is bullying them. It’s because they keep talking shit over the social media loudspeakers in order to divert US Military attention away from Iran at the cost of cuban lives and livelihoods.

They’re allies of people you don’t like? How does that harm the US. That’s what I asked.

Then you said none of the first part of your comment matters because the only reason is that they’re talking shit. That’s the reason for killing them? They’re too mouthy for you? You’re just as petty and small minded as Trump if that’s the justification for defending him.

I wonder what the USA did to warrant such a negative reaction?

You wouldn’t think America’s own actions has anything to do with it, would you?

There’s no guarantee of that. As long as trump is still alive and in office, worse is almost guaranteed. He and his sycophants have already discussed outright invading Cuba. Cuba isn’t stirring it up. They’re responding to the violence already inflicted.

I am anti authoritarian/authority. I’m against our government and Cuba’s. But of all the problems with Cuba’s government. This is the US’s fault.

Well they went from no guarantee to further sanctions, so I hope they have fun with that. If things escalate further and bombs start flying the only thing I’ll have to say about it is “called it.”

Cuba’s dictatorship problems started with their sponsorship from the USSR and later China. Blaming that on only the USA is ridiculous.
