We had a reputation in Australia? I’m honestly surprised our great president hasn’t been filing slaap suits in australian courts for saying mean things about him, probably just an oversight on his part.

Australia has libel laws like the UK that allow the rich to crush anyone the criticizes them, forcing them into court to pay millions in lawyers. It’s bad enough here in the US and we have more freedom of speech in that regard, especially to criticize public figures, the bar here is if a public figure you have to say the false statements that harm them with actual malice and knowing the statements are false, if I recall. Sarah Palin tried to overturn that precedent suing the NYTimes recently and scotus didn’t overturn it yet either. Yet.

But it’s only going to get worse from here on out. When they choose a new leader, presuming they fix elections for that new leader and the democrats don’t take it back, an overwhelmingly likely probability at this point, our leadership will get worse, even as the new leader might not be such a blowhard, they will be able to get more done.

Once elections are fixed they will get much worse obviously, and the Aussies will become more supplicants, vassal states, than junior partners.
