The UK foreign secretary, David Lammy, has indicated that delicate negotiations with the White House to allow Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missiles inside Russia are ongoing, arguing it was a time for “nerve and guts”.

The apparent encouragement to Joe Biden comes just over a week after Lammy and Keir Starmer visited the US president in the White House but failed to resolve the sticking point between two countries.

Speaking at a fringe event at the Labour party conference in Liverpool, Lammy said the hardship and challenges of the war in Ukraine would get “deeper and harsher”, particularly heading into “the back end of 2025 into 2026” and beyond.

“So this is a critical time for nerve and guts and patience and for fortitude on behalf of allies who stand with Ukraine,” he said in comments that appeared directed at a hesitant White House, concerned about the risks of allowing Storm Shadow missiles to be used to attack Russia.

The US are in a strategic “dillemma”. They wanted to pull out of West Asia (Middle East) to focus on containing China in East Asia, in particular as they don’t need Oil from West Asia given their own production increase. Then Putin went into Ukraine forcing the US to prove to its European allies, that it does care. Also Russia regaining power it lost through the Sowjet collapse, not by economic, but military means is a problematic outset for the long run, potentially becoming the dominant force in Europe.

But then came Oct. 7 and Netanyahu is hellbent on dragging the US into a war with Lebanon and Iran. Now the US has to choose their focus. Lose East Asia to China, hang the Europeans dry, or give up on the unconditional support for Zionism. Strategically this would make the most sense, but it goes against the heavily entrenched bipartisan principles and propaganda of the past 40 years.

So it looks like the US will sacrifice Ukraine and expect the European allies to step up their fortifications. Meanwhile Russia is happily stirring up things in West Africa reducing European influence there and diverting further focus from Ukraine.

I don’t see us abandoning Ukraine, so long as Harris wins.

I HOPE that she decreases and/or eliminates the categorically unnecessary aid (that kinda makes us culpable in the genocide they’re currently perpetrating), but it’s too soon to tell what she’ll actually do in that context once she gets into office.

It is a simple matter of resources. While Ukraine is in dire need, the US decided to send 25 billions to Israel so they can bomb more civillians, while Russia is destroying Ukraine more and more.
