I don’t remember the song, but I remember Arsenio Hall having that as a recurring bit on his talk show.

I think the point was not to elect our own criminal rapists, but it’s too late if that was indeed the point.
It’s not a big secret or anything.
You do know that over 70% of the Palestinians supported the Oct 7th terrorist attack at the time, right?
Now they’re victim blaming Israel for a Hamas/Palestinian terrorist attack. This world sucks.
When we spend this much on the fucking military and are worried about declining stockpiles, there can be no doubt about widespread corruption.
After reading Kim Stanley Robinson’s The Ministry for the Future, I’ve just been crossing my fingers for homemade drones to start taking down private planes.
That Department Of Government Efficiency is sure making an impact.
Dude just could have said something like,“Hey, I’m a developer of Plex and have really enjoyed my experience using it. Let me know if you’d like to see something added/fixed.”
Another promise broken. What a loser.
I would love to pin it on one thing, like social media. While I felt, feel, like that was a big variable in the downfall, I can’t underestimate the loss of the “American Dream”. I felt like phones should be banned. But some teachers felt like phones could be integrated into the curriculum. I could see both points, but honestly I just felt like society had passed me by. One of my master teachers, when I had been student teaching 25 years previously, said it was time to go when the students no longer entertained you. I felt like that was about right. I don’t think knowledge at your fingertips is a reason not to actually learn stuff.
I retired from the job 5 years ago. Your description rings true from my experience then (and was a big part of me retiring), and the colleagues I’ve stayed in touch with say it’s very noticeably worse now. I’m glad I got out when I did.
China is not without a butt load of economic problems already. We are their biggest trading partner. I agree we, the US, is fucked, but China is about to be as well. There will be no winners here.
I don’t know if I’m alone on this, but I just bought the biggest 5400rpm HDD that was in my price range when I set up. Might notice the slower speed when doing a big data dump, but for streaming purposes you can run many 4k streams concurrently and the bottleneck would probably be your network speed before you hit a drive read bottleneck.
Russia, China, and Iran. Just doing their normal shitty stuff.
The history of that Island, the stark differences between Haiti and the DR, is just painful.
I always hear people bitching about the “no choice” of voting, but they never seem to be around during the primaries, when they could make a difference.
I hate a lot of things for stupid reasons
I had to check to see if I was about to reply to myself.
Mutually assured destruction was supposed to be a deterrent to anyone using nukes. Not to enable an aggressor force to do what they want without repercussions out of fear that they would use nukes. If they use nukes, at a minimum they’ll no longer exist. Probably along with the rest of us.
Is it still a war crime without a war? I’m not trying to split hairs or justify the crime, just wondering about definitions. A quick search didn’t really clarify it. Violation of international law, absolutely. And who would prosecute? I don’t think the US has allowed itself to be subjugated to any international court.
