Good thing we’ve made it so easy for people to migrate /s
Avoidable climate change caused by economic activity whose gains were hoarded by a small number of rich people who do not live in Kabul
This is a literary technique known as floor shadowing
Soon “Our health supplements are the only ones that have been clinically proven to reduce the reported symptoms of radiation sickness, made from only the finest saw dust and snake oil etc.”
Van Hollen shouldn’t have publicized those pictures at all, everything from the setting to the clothes they gave Garcia was a misrepresentation of what he’s going through
But calling her a tourist in the headline is a clear misrepresentation
Sure thing, and if you stay over at a friend’s house and make the bed in the morning it’s their legal obligation to report you for not obtaining a proper license for your housecleaning business first /s
Anyone willing to encourage tourism to America by being such a guide would probably take your money and then find a reason to get you arrested by ICE anyway. Not like you could take it up with a consumer protection agency now.
They are absolutely desperate to fill their quotas, they’re selfish cowards who know how quickly their Dear Leader will throw them under the bus if they don’t
That is important context, thank you. I still kind of think that taking an assertive stand against what the United States is doing to Germany citizens is the kind of clear call this minister probably ought to feel empowered to make, but on the other hand I have a deep appreciation for government workers who feel their obligations to upholding democratic systems, so this is a hard call to make I suppose.
Not that they owe my country any favors or anything, but given their own history I would have hoped this German government agency could do something a little stronger than “this is not a travel warning, just reminding all you plebs to listen to border guards if you don’t want to be tortured”
That’s breathtakingly shitty of my country to do, but the security council stuff is just as bad and maybe more important since (if my memory serves) the security council has a lot more actual power to do things that the general assembly does
Then [the US and Russia] backed a US-drafted resolution at the UN Security Council calling for an end to the conflict but containing no criticism of Russia.
The Security Council resolution was passed but two key US allies, the UK and France, abstained in the vote after their attempts to amend the wording were vetoed.
The ceasefire has been bullshit from the beginning, it was just a way for Israel and Hamas to put a formal end on things that allowed them both to say they got what they wanted out of this bloodbath, but it hasn’t and won’t stop Israeli soldiers from killing Palestinians or Hamas fighters from trying to kill Israeli civilians, and it definitely won’t do anything to put us on a path to any kind of real and lasting peace. We’re right back where we were on October 6, only with 40,000+ dead civilians and a bunch of essential infrastructure destroyed.
lately I’ve been asking if people will write an email to a politician or a celebrity or a business leader, anyone who has the ability to talk to the media, and ask them to use that ability to talk about the plight of Palestinians
It’s almost like after months of having their concerns dismissed and being called Russian plants or whatever else people aren’t inclined to engage in political action alongside the kinda kinds of people who they think said those things. Oh well, at least this is just a silly thing that happens on social media and doesn’t have any relevance at all to the Democratic party’s ability to turn out votes or anything /s
e; fixed a typo and added some words to make my point clearer
And also spacex
Nah, Nazis hated Jews just because they needed to hate someone to justify their own existence but they’ll switch to any other easy scapegoats and work with whoever they need to hold on to power
Bold of you to assume Trump will do what he says anonymous sources say he will
Advisers to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump are developing a comprehensive sanctions strategy aimed at facilitating a diplomatic resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war, Bloomberg reported on Jan. 16, citing anonymous sources familiar with the discussions.
Alternative headline, “People in Trump’s administration who are slightly less beholden to Russia than he is float trial balloon that Donald will slap down with a tweet when he cares enough to even say anything about it”
There’s zero chance that wouldn’t go exactly the same under the Biden administration. If/when this new government decides to start persecuting their LGBT community I would bet the Trump administration would cheer them on where a Biden administration would tell them to stop, but Israel gets a blank check to commit atrocities from both of them.
I mean, that would have been an accurate description of me at age 21
