What the hell is this analogy? “It’s like [thing], except if [thing] were totally different.” This is like a bad movie script.

I’m glad someone brought this up, it was the first thing that came to my mind.
“Athens” is such a popular name for small towns in the US that New York state has two places named “Athens.”
“Wow that’s dumb,” you say. And sure sure, you’ve got a point.
But what will you say when you find out Pennsylvania has three?
“Jesus H. Christ, that’s idiotic,” you say. And I can’t argue.
But you will be rendered speechless by the news that my own state of Ohio has four localities named “Athens.”
…if you don’t count the one named “New Athens.”
I’m not making this up.
