Thanks for the clarification. I figured there was something you could bet against, but forgot about futures. Appreciate it!
And who will be working those farms? But I’m sure somebody in the administration figured a way to short a stock involving it, somehow
One way to look at it is different standards - my mother-in-law, also somewhat old, wouldn’t be caught dead without makeup and hair, regardless of the reason. You assume she’s dressing for others. She’s dressing for both herself and how society use to be.
NATO should say they promise not to once Russia hands over its nuclear weapons. You know, like Ukraine did. Use the exact same paperwork that Ukraine signed in 1994 (NPT), with the word Ukraine taped over so it’s super obvious.
I wonder why they don’t mention all the incidents of people from other countries being put in detention/jail/gulag…
He was telling a joke, apparently.
I thought the invisible hand was always right? This isn’t the government banning things, it’s its people and companies doing so. He also sounds like a lickspittle “I’ve been giving my marching orders”. Which part, where trump says “never say never”?.
Nah, he’s onto something. Say you can only change 5% of MAGA minds. Firm red state won’t change. But a purple state? Now it’s blue enough to change races.
Dems just need to say that their candidates will drop all new tariffs like this. Which is goofy (repubs pro-tariff, dems anti), but it incentivizes them to not go along with any of this, medium/long term
Except we did something like $3.5b in trade with them last year somehow. And they taxed uninhabited islands.
Come on, guys. You know the first rule of Usenet.

Especially with trump spewing at rallies about how shitty EVs are.
can we just give him a dollar?
Thank you. Yeah, that’s what I figured, but anything to inflict pain on GS would have been a bonus.
since it’s Goldman Sachs saying this, anybody have any ideas for stock/bond purchases that would further hurt them? I mean, they deserve it normally…
They didn’t ask the right question, clearly: “are they hurting the right people”? Of course, between the farmers losing a major purchaser and the like, the answers may be more complex than anticipated.
Oh no! Anyway.
That is the most obtuse way I’ve seen yet to say that the “global conveyor” of warm/cold water in the Atlantic, that moderates the weather and keeps the UK from being frozen solid, will likely collapse in the next 75 years. It’s an existential threat.
