Hi! I’m British, I like music (grime, garage, hip-hop, R&B, and more!). I like art, culture, history, politics, & doomscrolling memes.
Also a touch of programming :)

Lobsters has blocked the Brave browser since a scam in 2019. We still block it because they lie about following standards so they scrape and sell copies of websites. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but they have previously targeted Lobsters by name and have a years-long pattern of bad behavior.
Well, that’s a new one. What you see if you visit it via Brave Browser.
On the surface I’m against this but I guess it depends on what we get out of it. Ultimately, leaving the EU puts us in an awkward spot. We have to pick and choose our battles.
In a general election, you vote for your local representative to represent you in parliament.
Ridings are what Canada call their electoral districts. An area in which a member of parliament stands for election.
Nepean is a location in Ottawa. Mark is running for election there.

Somewhat hyperbolic but I definitely agree that if NATO wasn’t in the way he’d happily reclaim USSR territory.
Let’s hope that doesn’t happen because oh boy, the consequences would be significant.
I grew up working class with parents on welfare living in government housing. I did, in-fact, actually have to leave my couch in order to improve my living conditions and am acutely aware of the consequences of rising rent, rising energy costs, stagnant wages, and high food prices.
Most of us don’t get the choice to be full time internet activists unfortunately.
A blockade doesn’t work if you can’t defend it. They can do whatever they want but actions have consequences.
nobody in America cares about the non-Palestinian Middle East enough for “some” to rally behind him just because he bombed some Yemenis
Your average American does care about the economy and price of common items, oil, etc, and Houthis bombing the most important trade route in the world directly effects that.
By the time of the Famine, Scottish plantations had been in Ireland for almost 300 years. I’m not sure cherry picking one incident in the long lineage of exploitation over Ireland excuses anyone to be honest. Even after the famine, stuff like Black & Tans having notorious Scottish units and even in the modern day you can point to remaining tensions between ulster-scot protestants and Irish catholics.
From whom were they fleeing? Yes, it is wrong to excuse Scotland from playing an active role in colonising Ireland. That should be obvious
Commoners everywhere are victims of the elite. That’s not unique to England nor does it excuse Scotland.

Scotland is British.
Grouping Scotland and Ireland like that has always been weird to me. Scotland played a very active role in colonisation, were over represented in Colonial administrations, and themselves helped colonise Ireland (hence Ulster Scots, Scots-Irish).
Damaging trade through the Suez effects everyone negatively. If anything this will be one of his more popular moves.
The article does not say that, Houthis are absolutely not just targeting Troop transports (?) - there is no troop transports going through the Suez to Israel. I assume you’re misreading the Trump quote from the article here - they have targeted US warships but they’ve also targeted a large number of commercial/oil ships as well.
Even if they were only targeting troop transports (which they aren’t), they’re throwing missiles at the worlds most important trade route - it’s obviously going to impact pretty much everyone who transits through there. The whole point of their actions is to cripple Western trade related to Israel.
Little different here because transit of trade through the Suez is essential for American business. It’s very much in-line with Trumps ideology to care about his bottom line and protecting American business, not to mention he gets brownie points from his base for acting tough. Win win.
Whelp, guess I’m joining the Boycott US movement
