I also know that history doesn’t make metaphysical claims about the nature of the universe and concepts such as morality. Science is our best way of understanding the world, not voodoo. That’s why I mentioned gravity.

Your beliefs are not supported by anything other than an old book. Shit, Newtons theories of gravity have more evidence for them than your boom of fairytale and we’ve still discredited them. Regardless of the prominence of belief in the Christian God and its pervasiveness in western culture, that does not mean that morality does not exist without God unless you come at it from a specifically platonist philosophy. And therein we see the problem: your subscription to one form of ancient philosophy and denial that other ways of thinking even exist.
Does this surprise literally anybody? This is the most nothingburger article ever. Like, yeah, no shit the three largest, richest, and most populous countries make up the majority of fossil fuel expansion.
Males are actually born at a higher rate than females, but just tend to die younger, which is why there are more females than males generally.
Or as they’re known to the rest of the world, subhumans :p
Isn’t his name piers? I feel like we should be making fun of him for that alone. Like who tf names their kid piers?
I assume this is a reference to Reagan’s idea of a “proportional” response? If so, props
Not in the US military, and I’m sure others as well. What civilized nations are you referring to? I can only speak to the US, but enlisted soldiers here take a pledge to follow orders, while the officers are actually the ones to take a pledge to uphold the US constitution.
I literally respond the same way to people that talk that way about isis. Get your finger outta yer ass. Read my comment history if you don’t believe me.
Spoken like somebody who has never encountered violence before.
And it totally has nothing to do with the huge # of third party journalists that have been killed by the IDF already despite incredibly clear press markings. It’s almost like the IDF wants the ability to control the narrative or something…
I mean they’re attacking HAMAS. I get what you mean but I’m personally willing to apply the “punch a Nazi” principle.
Just making a point, don’t mean nothing by it
This is his most unpopular position? Maybe to far leftists, but the article you linked relating to 2024 numbers says this:
Twice as many adults under 30 as those 65 and older think the US must stop supporting Israel’s war in Gaza (23% vs. 11%).
Twice as many adults 65 and older as those under 30 think the US must support Israel’s war unconditionally (26% vs. 13%).
Now I’m not saying that 23% of the population is insignificant, but that’s not 23% of the overall population, but only the sub 30 population, the population most likely to support Gaza over Israel in the first place. Based on the data, the overwhelming majority of people (77-89% depending on demographic) don’t give a shit if Biden supports Israel, and a good portion of those thinks that not only should Biden support Israel, but he should so so unconditionally.
Now I’m not making an statements about who’s right or wrong insofar as policy is concerned with the Israeli genocide, but what I’m saying is that the vast majority of people outside of your echo chamber (sadly) do not give a shit, even if they should.
You forgot bo staff to refer to the quarterstaff that Donatello uses
Okay, but Mao is treated like a pseudo-godlike figure in China, similar to how Jesus was a guy but is treated like a god by Christians.
That’d be true for the vast majority of figures from that time. Also I’d like to see evidence for your implied claim that apparently the Romans kept vast swathes of paperwork concerning executions and that the vast majority of it was preserved until this day.
I mean if you really don’t think there was a Jesus that existed, was popular, and was executed by the Roman empire, then I think you may be the mistaken one.
Saying that he wasn’t the son of God and his mother wasn’t a virgin is a different story however
Ig technically, but it was really the US that invaded Afghanistan. Considering their allies that sent significantly smaller forces and did not make the decision to start the military activity as fellow invaders is disingenuous at best.
Worse than Trump voters actually. The vast majority of Trump voters have convinced themselves that what they’re doing is good, actually, and that the democrats are evil whereas the people who abstained from voting for Harris literally had a choice of a candidate that campaigned on making their number one issue worse, and one that at least attempted to talk about peace deals and decided to just have no impact whatsoever, condemning hundreds of thousands plus to certain death. They claim to be on the side of ending human suffering when in actuality, they’re little piss babies that are upset that their 10% of the population doesn’t have complete and total control.
