Only the best people.
Recovering academic now in public safety. You’ll find me kibitzing on brains (my academic expertise) to critical infrastructure and resilience (current worklife). Also hockey, games, music just because.

Only the best people.
100% whatever trailcam fits your budget. They are robust against weather and other insults, crazy battery life, and some have remote monitoring. Don’t overthink this one.
When this strip originally ran a number of papers cropped the top of the cartoon rendering it somewhat incomprehensible. Of course that wasn’t unusual for The Far Side…
You have a lot of unattractive people too. The system needs everybody.
If anything, the attractive are in over supply and good nondescript character actors are in demand.
It’s an easy game not to play.
The pool of talent wanting to be in film is incredibly large - when Iived there it felt like half of LA was trying to make it in the entertainment business. Even the LA Police have casting leave written into their contracts in case they pick up a part.
So yes, the system is exploitative. But every person there is willingly playing that game using the cards they have available to them. Most of them lose.
If I hadn’t heard the 99%Invisible episode about the Ambassador Bridge that story would have made a lot less sense. https://99percentinvisible.org/category/infrastructure/
This article reads like the Maroun family have poked the beast, who is now angry that he didn’t wet his beak.
Chic or Patrician if you want to be fancy about it.

FIFA gave him a peace prize.

I feel like the speed of the conveyance matters a lot. One minute of travel at walking speed is still a 3 wood away. You could converse by shouting with someone at the origin. One minute by train puts you out of earshot and golf ball range.

We sometimes play a game around here where we’ll turn off the volume during a commercial and try to guess what they’re advertising. It’s harder than you might imagine for unfamiliar ads.
I think ads are super effective for some demographics. Children are probably the best target market. Teenagers, particularly those who seek external validation or align to external norms are a sweet spot. Old guys like me? No effect whatsoever.

Gwen Jacobs fought for the right to go shirtless.

Thank Gwen Jacobs who took the fine and fought it all the way.

Another short-term decision by America could lead to more long-term loss of wealth and influence.

I thought Pushing Tin was the aircraft controllers movie.
Most useless kind of study. Participants were asked how much coffee they drank at the start of the study and never asked again. Thirteen years later their records got reviewed for mental health diagnoses. So there is no confirmation of what their coffee consumption actually was at the start, and no idea of how that consumption changed over the course of 13 years. Just bullshit.
