5 seasons. No more, no less. It gives the overarching story enough room to breathe and play out a solid three act structure with a wide middle. It needs to all be written and plotted out before anything gets filmed.

I agree with all the other people in this thread mentioning ‘In Time’. It had such a great premise, and I didn’t even hate the execution, but it was mediocre. It was like they went 50% of the way to a flawless execution and just said “fuck it, that’s good enough”. The concept has a lot of elements to explore, like classism, labor exploitation, human rights, even free will to a point… A movie just isn’t the right vehicle for that story. It needs to be a series. Done right, you could explore all that while having an overarching plotline, and still have your weekly subplots and B stories. That would give the story time to fully develop the romantic connection between the poor guy who comes into a bunch of time, and the rich girl who empathizes with him. That romance felt incredibly rushed in the movie, but you could build it up over a whole season in a show.
I also want to mention another movie that I’m not sure belongs here. It’s not a bad movie, nor do I think the execution was mediocre, but for the life of me I can’t figure out why it didn’t do better. That movie is called ‘Push’, with Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning. I just watched it again the other night, and I freaking love it. The concept isn’t that amazing or original, but the way they present it is great. There isn’t a ton of exposition or world-building. They kinda just drop you in and let you figure it out, and I really like that. Evans and Fanning have great onscreen chemistry, and Djimon Honsou is a perfect bad guy. This is another one where I think it would make a great series, even though I think the movie was done really well. It’s just kind of a perfect mid-budget sci-fi action movie, and we don’t seem to get those anymore.
I loved the original West World movie, which is about 20% high concept and 80% “how do we copy terminator when all we have are a bunch of random Wild West, medieval and classical back lots?”
I’m sorry what? ‘West World’ came out in 1973, ‘The Terminator’ came out in 1984. Am I missing something here?
Fair enough. It happens to us all.
I think it’s odd that you left out the part explaining what these men aren’t getting called out by their peers for.
These are men writing about their wives, their mums, their mate’s daughter, exchanging images, sharing women’s names, socials and contact details, and no one – not one man – is calling them out. They’re patting each other on the back.”
Men who are doxxing and sharing revenge porn of women is not the same thing as men “looking to fuck” a woman. This is sick sociopathic behavior. It’s weird that you can’t tell the difference.
I hate how many people are already starting in with conspiracy theories. She was sex trafficked as a teenager, for fucks sake. Then her whole life was dragged through the mud in public view while she sought justice. Countless people take their own lives every day under far less stressful circumstances.
She didn’t know anything that Ghislaine Maxwell doesn’t know, and that bitch is still breathing.
Its been so painfully obvious this man’s been Putin’s bitch since 2016
Cave wall art. Carving trinkets and talismans. Might branch out into making spear tips, arrowheads, axes, stuff like that.
Holy shit man, so much. So so so much. Honestly I’m surprised I survived childhood.
We used to free climb cliffs. One of my step brothers took a pretty bad fall, about 60 feet down. He cartwheeled and banged against the cliff face, then landed in a sitting position. His right arm was torn open from armpit to elbow, and the bones were sticking out. Compound break. We had to walk him though about 2 miles of desert to get back to civilization and get help. He survived with no other major injuries, but that was a close one.
I used to go camping out in the desert by myself as a kid. From like 10 to 14 years old. I’d take a bow and arrows with me and just stay out there for a few days with my parents thinking I was spending a few days at a friends house. So much shit could’ve gone wrong, and sometimes it almost did.
Then there’s the normal kid shit like playing with fire and chemicals, almost blowing ourselves up or burning everything else down.
People wonder why I never had kids and all I can do is think about all the shit I got up to as a kid. I don’t need that kind of stress.
If you want to know how it came to be that Palestinians elected and supported Hamas, just watch in real time as Mexican cartels step up to help Mexico resist American imperialism. I guarantee it will play out in an eerily familiar way if Trump keeps playing these games.
Countdown to the UK government apologizing to Israel over this in 5… 4… 3…
Agreed.
up to $1 billion
It will be much less than a billion.
If a fine can be paid without causing financial strain, then it just becomes part of the cost of doing business.
If you want results, fine him $100 billion.
Even more interesting is that her mother (VP Vance’s mother-in-law) was instrumental in advancing DEI at the university she works at (UCSD).
I would pay a lot of money to see a journalist ask JD Vance if he approves of his mother-in-law’s work in promoting DEI. Just knowing how awkward that next family gathering would be would make it worth it.
We’ve become so complacent. A unified community would have intervened, violently if necessary. I would love nothing more than to see a crowd of folks popping out of houses and cars and surrounding these terrorists at gunpoint.
“Join the IDF - We put the infant in infantry”
Not gonna lie, it’s pretty catchy.
If you think of the government like a restaurant, it makes more sense. Pretty much every restaurant has to deal with vermin, to varying degrees. Most of the time, the restaurant keeps it under control through regular cleaning, but you still see a roach every now and then. Maybe even a rat. So you set traps and you kill the fuckers. If it gets too bad, you hire a professional to come in and exterminate. If you’re diligent, the rats and roaches are extremely rare, your food is protected, and the customers never see vermin. But if you walk into a restaurant and see a rat crawling across the dessert display in broad daylight, that restaurant has a HUGE fucking problem. They have an infestation. The rats are eating well, and have become unafraid of being seen.
These monumental fuck-ups like Pete Hegseth are vermin. They are rats and roaches that are brazenly crawling all over the tables, out in the open in broad daylight. If this is what we the customers see, then what’s behind the walls and in the kitchen and in the dry goods storage is a thousand times worse. The American restaurant is infested. It needs to be tented and fumigated.
Imagine trying to justify killing babies by claiming babies are involved in combat.
Jesus fucking Christ… Qatar is basically a scumbag real estate agent conning an idiot into buying a condemned shack in a swamp as a “cozy waterfront getaway”, but on a colossally stupid level.
