Hm, to explain my reasoning:

• I saw them talking about stuff that seemed complex to me and seem to have some experience with servers (already had a server), so I’d say they know way more about me and I’m going to set up a nixos server in like a month (been using them on my laptop for ~9months, but not in any fancy way). If I can, they I guess they probably can too.

• I thought about throwing an idea to consider. I’m too in the process of learning so I cant give a good plan yet:/

I see that in the end they ask for a nuanced answer, rip, I failed to do that

Yeah, (among others) I really want to learn git to sync dotfiles and the nixos configs

(Hopefully I’ll probably have tranitioned to nixos in a few months. If I get good enough and somehow build a nas, I might use nixos instead of debian in the server too.)

I think codeberg is for me in my case. (Btw, I barely know git, I’m gonna read a guide today.) I really like foss, so I will probably create foss stuff.

I really want to make a nas in the future, so I might host my own forgejo instance locally and possibly keep a backup on a cloud storage provider (bought 2tb lifetime on filen). I have somewhat big plans for my nas, but I don’t know what I’ll eventually do😆

So far I barely use git, so I probably dont need to rent a cloud server. Thanks again though:)

Quick question: forgejo is the git program that you can install self host a git server, while codeberg is probably the biggest forgejo-kind git server that is open to the public, right?

I dont have a home server to host forgejo (yet?), so I’m thinking of making an account on codeberg, is that correct reasoning?

Yeah, but what if you force people to give their ids to random social media for “age verification” or keep people disconnected from social media or force them to use vpns?

Why try to actually minimize a problem when you can create a false solution that will bring other problems and possibly increase your power over people?

I think China, which is very overpopulated, would really need some population shrinkage. It’s getting tiresome seeing articles whining about being “bad” for the “economy”.

The whole world probably has too many people, it’s just that the decline should be at a bearable rate (not too slow, not to fast) and occur at appropriate rates per area (some areas may be more overpopulated than others). And I ~dont give a care about the economy, we have means of aleviating the issues of decreased workforce by using robots, reducing unecessary jobs to save resources (like the whole ad industry?), but we live in such a capitalistic society that you ~have to step on others to survive and waste resources just to make money… Maybe this “economy” should be scrapped eventually.

I just happen to open facebook (I have an open source front end client) from time to time out of boredom, because it’s kinda amusing how bad my feed is :)

You mean without a fb account? I think you’re right, but I think this wasn’t possible when I made the account ~3years ago.

About desktop web, I’m only using the website on my pc (and I have isolated the app on work profile on my android, while turning off ads with an lsposed module).

I have a ~3year old fb account because I have to use messenger. I don’t use FB almost at all (I even sparingly accept friend requests) and have turned off ~anything that provides targeted content (I live in EU).

Since about last year (or possibly even before), my feed is about 35% Ikaria ads (a Greek island, I’m from Greece), 10% porn, 10% sexist-misogynistic stuff, 15% sexist-misogynistic porn, 15% christian stuff and the rest random stuff.

At least this might confirm that turning off targeted content works…🤷

Because that’s what matters the most…
