Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told the European Union’s top diplomat that Beijing can’t accept Russia losing its war against Ukraine as this could allow the United States to turn its full attention to China, an official briefed on the talks said, contradicting Beijing’s public position of neutrality in the conflict.

The admission came during what the official said was a four-hour meeting with EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas on Wednesday in Brussels that “featured tough but respectful exchanges, covering a broad range of issues from cyber security, rare earths to trade imbalances, Taiwan and Middle East.”

The official said Wang’s private remarks suggested Beijing might prefer a protracted war in Ukraine that keeps the United States from focusing on its rivalry with China. They echo concerns of critics of China’s policy that Beijing has geopolitically much more at stake in the Ukrainian conflict than its admitted position of neutrality.

Uh I don’t think so. I think China wants to see the us position significantly weakened.

Why on earth do they want a stable Us?

Given that China has the world’s seconds largest economy and they are trying to break into all of the foreign markets the US is currently in I don’t think they care.

I’m sure some of them care about their portfolio but that’s going to look great under Trump.

I think for them if the US goes full fascist it’s a win-win.

As long as we’re focused on our own internal politics and not messing with China or trying to disable their economy I really really don’t think they care.

Edit: Do you guys at least have a source on this claim that China wants a stable us?

But that’s my point, if the US went full fascist, it would not stop and think only about its internal politics. Trump’s stated goal is to pull the US out of all its entanglements and responsibilities and turn its full attention towards China and mess with it.

And I don’t think Trump is good for portfolios either. It might be good for the portfolio of Trump and some other people, but even the average Wall Street guy is losing out. See TACO.

Right but they would still have time to respond on top of that it’s not like the US is very close to China. And even if we did send her aircraft carriers in to go mess with China that would be a really hard fight for the United states. I don’t think it would go well.

On top of the fact that China really wants the US position in the world to be weak. It would be very beneficial for China to be the strongest and take over that title because it sure as shit isn’t going to Russia right now
