If a team wants to exclude trans women who consistently outperform their competition, fine, as long as they also exclude cis women who are equally high performers. I don’t think that would be smart, but I also don’t think it’s like morally objectionable. If they want to exclude all trans women regardless of performance and not exclude high performing cis women, then it’s not about fairness, it’s about discrimination.
I’m no sports expert though, and I would guess the majority of trans women don’t play any sports, so I feel like this issue really doesn’t need to be seen as so important. I’d say leave it to the actual players to figure out
I’m not going to try and convince you of anything, but your response is a good summary of the problem. You started off by saying “trans people aren’t hurting you so just let people be”, and now you’re saying that men should be able to force their way into women’s sports even if the women don’t want them there.
I’m not trying to force my way in anywhere, I’m not trying to make cis women uncomfortable, I just want to exist without having to constantly read about people blaming me for everything wrong with the world.
I would never go into anywhere where the people inside didn’t want me there. If a cis woman told me she was uncomfortable being around me I’d leave, the same as I would if I was making anyone else uncomfortable. But that’s never happened, the cis women I know understand me, they’re the people who tell me I matter, who give me the tiny bit of confidence I have in myself.
If agreeing to never use a women’s bathroom or play a women’s sport would make people just leave me alone, I’d do it. I’m sure there are other people who wouldn’t, but those just aren’t my priorities because I don’t do those things anyway. But it wouldn’t make people leave me alone. Next they’d want to take away any chance of me ever getting HRT or ban me from being in public because I’m “corrupting the children” or something.
If you want to argue about the best way to solve the many problems with the way we as a society handle sports teams or bathrooms, fine, but it has to start with basic respect. Saying “trans women should use different bathrooms/play different sports/whatever from cis women” is an opinion I (and I think you’ll find a lot of cis women) disagree with, but it’s something we could have some semblance of a constructive discussion about. Saying “trans women are men” and are “forcing their way into women’s spaces” serves no purpose but being intentionally mean.
Calling it “discrimination” isn’t a direct call for legal action, but it is suggestive of it, and trying to use the courts to force one’s way into places you don’t belong and aren’t wanted is immoral.
Saying “Trans woman are men” isn’t an attack. It’s a factual, neutral statement. Come up with new terms, and stop trying to create newspeak. Use “femme” and “masc”, they’ve got popularity already and don’t try to redefine language to allow men to invade women’s spaces.
If women want gendered sports, you’ll agree that men shouldn’t be allowed into women’s sports, even if they’re trans women?

Women deserve single-sex spaces.

Thank you for not personally trying to force your way into women’s sports, but other men are:
