    Unless there’s a pandemic of intelligence out of nowhere, it’s probably the end of the modern world in some soon-ish timeframe.

    Although we are going through an extinction event, and I suppose if it’s one severe enough to kill anything over a certain size, humans will probably go along with it.

      yeah, the modern world is mostly defined by full employment, which comes from technological progress. so unless there’s a new invention to kick something to start of the scale of the industrial revolution, yeah large-scale employment (with meaningful pay) and with it democracy are done for. intelligence isn’t gonna change anything about it unless it can bring said inventions.

      maybe spaceflight can generate some jobs but i don’t think it would be enough, only a step. yeah, we’re heading for a new medieval age. better get cushy with it.
