Israel’s top military lawyer has dropped all criminal charges against five Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reservists who brutally assaulted—including raping—a Palestinian detainee held at the notorious Sde Teiman military detention centre during Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.
The only person now facing charges and even a jail sentence relating to the events is Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi—the IDF’s previous Military Advocate General who exposed the crime in the first place and initiated the original investigation and indictments. It was Tomer-Yerushalmi who released in August 2024 the infamous video showing the soldiers surrounding and raping a blindfolded Palestinian detainee against a wall for around 15 minutes.
Investigators are examining allegations against Tomer-Yerushalmi linked to the leak and related actions, such as obstruction or false statements, abuse of office, and disclosure of official information by a public servant. If convicted she could face up to three years in prison.

i certainly wouldn’t blame the whole of humanity for what certain, albeit sizeable, populations have CHOSEN to do. only because that lumps in the victims of said choices into it, and they’re innocent in all of this. but i do mostly agree

How about we prosecute and punish those who commit crimes and leave the rest alone?

They can be de-indoctrinated. Hitlerjugend were doing far worse than singing.
And Germany was never properly de-nazi-fied. Many ended up in positions of government post-war, many more of course spread out to other countries.
I appreciate the compassion you’re showing but I think failure to properly deal with Nazis is huge for our history, it’s working against the case you’re making.
Given that nowadays Germany is one of the most Nazi-averse countries on earth, I think the system worked fine.
You can’t put 40 or 60 million people in jail, or execute them. You can execute the top leadership, throw active party members in jail and change the education system, legal frameworks and media structure to make sure that future generations learn from what happened… even if uncle Hans still thinks Hitler did nothing wrong.
That concept was too hard for Isn’t real as seen by how they keep killing civilians in every country they occupy. How can we expected a lesser funded organization to solve problems Isn’t real can’t even solve?
We managed at Nuremberg, we can do it again.
Conventionally bombed maybe but nuking anyone carries devastating consequences for literally everyone else on the planet.
