Why? Why would you brag about this? What possibly could this do other than destablize Iran and push it into further violence and chaos?
Oh right, that is exactly what the US and Israel wants…
Make no mistake, Trump doesn’t give a fuck about the Iranian people, he and the other forces alligned here want Iran to turn into a Libya-type failed state situation.
Violence and chaos is the point. Neither Israel or the US have the means or motivation to actually occupy Iran with ground forces and to build a new government from scratch. Hell, look how well that worked in Iraq. The goal is instead to turn Iran into a failed state that is completely incapable of providing even the most basic services to its population. A collapsed state can’t build effective missiles or support proxy wars outside its borders. At best you can knock together a few hamas-style bottle rockets in garage workshops.
Right now the goal is to wipe out the government leaders and military assets. When that fails to result in the overthrow of the Iranian government, the US and Israel will move on to civilian infrastructure. The power grid. The water systems. Fuel production and distribution, bridges, ports, rail lines, etc.
If they can’t topple the Iranian regime, they’ll leave the Iranian regime ruling over a pile of ashes, a nation with the infrastructure level of Somalia.
You can’t install a friendly government with air power alone. You can however do enough damage to a nation’s infrastructure that it can’t even keep its own people alive, let alone have the spare resources to affect things beyond its borders.
That is the real goal of this war. To turn Iran into a failed state.
Nazis being nazis. If there’s a god up there, this is the right moment to manifest and make of Israel a parking lot.
And while at it, you know, maybe have the rapist orange get a good nice and painful incurable cancer. But don’t get ahead of yourself with the cancer stage. We want him to suffer a long and slow death. There was a period of something like 4-6 years once where the sun didn’t shine once the entire time. If god didn’t show up during that then it’s not going to care about these current affairs either.
Trump wants to put a puppet or quasi-puppet in place as happened in Venezuela, where the vice-president Delcy Rodriguez was allowed to keep power apparently in exchange for accepting that the Americans will seize oil tankers and give back only a share of the revenue.
No benefit or regime change for the people of Venezuela. Iran stops threatening Israel and probably the US gets some oil revenue.
Trump repeats what works for him.
Well, the war would be won by disrupting the transfer of power to those who would carry on Khamenei’s policies, and this appears to be a solid step in that direction. I suppose you don’t want the USA and Israel to succeed, but why are you surprised that they would brag about achieving their own goals?
Also, I think someone coming to power who is willing to negotiate (rather than waiting to be air-struck and replaced) is more likely than the collapse of central authority.

The Iranian government was in the middle of negotiations and the news on Friday was that a peace deal was imminent. Then the USA and Israel started bombing during their own peace negotiations.
Prior to that Iran negotiated and signed (in 2015) an agreement with the USA (under Obama) to limit their nuclear development. Trump tore that agreement up, slapped sanctions on Iran, then killed one of their most senior military leaders.
The problem isn’t Iran being unwilling to negotiate. It’s the USA and Israel negotiating in bad faith, then ignoring their own agreements and attacking Iran anyway.
And the USA routinely tears up its treaties with other countries too. Anyone who negotiates in good faith with the USA and expects them to keep their end of the bargain is a fool.
I’m not happy with Trump’s approach to international relations, but there’s a difference between the sort of “pause nuclear program” negotiating that Iran had been doing and the sort that would ideally come out of this war, which would be “give up anti-US/anti-Israel ideology, give up ambitions of regional hegemony, and in return normalize political and economic relations” like the new Syrian government.
No one’s going to give up anti-Israel ideology while they’re still genociding, and Israel has no plans to stop that. And no one’s giving up anti-USA or anti-Israel ideology because they carpet bombed your cities. Being bombed doesn’t usually endear people to the bomber.
Germany gave up anti-US ideology after being bombed to rubble, and Japan gave up anti-US ideology shortly after being nuked. The Middle East is different culturally, but what you’re proposing is clearly not a human universal.
Consider Syria. Ahmed al-Sharaa was a jihadist but then decided that he liked being alive and in power more than he hated the US and Israel.
If they want a change of regime why are they’re destroying the insistitutions that would allow that?
They want total chaos and balcanization of Iran, so Israel is the undisputed military force on the region and can take over one by one all the neighbors to the Great Israel.
I think it’s plausible that they’ve concluded that the Assembly of Experts, a group selected for loyalty to Khamenei, is not going to radically depart from his ideology.
Israel is not going to take over its neighbors. It’s already struggling to rule over the three million Arabs in the West Bank and it’s stretched thin occupying just part of Gaza (less than 140 square miles).
What other rational conclusion can be drawn than this? The entire world needs to see this as is it is, and get on the same page about it fast.
