I have been saying for a decade now, 90% seriously, 10% jokingly, that a reason why you see ‘Karens’, Boomers have baby-like tantrum breakdowns way before something like dementia would be setting in, is significantly due to many of them having lead poisoning, because they match the symptoms caused by it.

Yes, the Baby Boomers have extreme lead poisoning. The leaded gas got slowly phased out and then basically banned in all but a few stations in the 1990s. Gen X likely has mild to severe lead poisoning

I think you’re missing the point. The number of people in America who believe in young earth creationism is rising pretty steadily.
Some of that has to do with things like poor education (the education system deliberately being undermined).
Some of it has to do with environmental factors like lead in paint or gasoline.
Some of it has to do with religious nut
