Quite interesting to see which news org tells which side of the story

Seems the two parties obviously clashed, but hard to say who really started.
Probably both sides pushed each other into escalation.

But so many news stations reported only about anti semitic attacks and left out the shit the Israelis did - and here the other way round.

At least it’s easy now to see which news org is biased to which side - although for most of them it was pretty much clear and in the open already

Israeli Maccabi fans started; Dutch police officer explaining (I also think the other is from UK?).

Would also like to show you multiple Instagram links from my other comment Another comment of mine.

From what I understand; Israeli fans started, Pro-Palestine supporters reacted and then the entire clash happened.

The main issue is (at least in The Netherlands), the official news outlets never explain what Israeli fans did, they victimize Israeli’s and claim that they’re are the hurted ones. Blames all the Pro-Palestine people only.

I think people should also be aware that Israeli football culture is notoriously violent and nationalist. Even by Israeli standards.

Is there a football culture that isn’t? I just usually hear about bananas being thrown at black players and chants that they go home or other stuff like that.

If there’s a football culture out there that doesn’t regularly descend into horrible hooliganism, I’d like to know which one it is so I can pretend to know about them when people ask me if I like the sport.

I’ve heard of at least one: believe it or not, Hapoel Tel Aviv F.C..

They’re a socialist Israeli football club popular among leftist Israeli Jews and Arab Israelis. Famously, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, the American-Israeli hostage who was killed in Gaza in August was among their fans.

As you can imagine, they face a pretty hostile environment throughout Israel these days.

It depends. You have clubs that give consecences for this kind of behaviour and clubs that downplay and ignore it. You have fan scences where these people are a small minority and you have scences where they dominate.

It is never black or white, but a spectrum. In the case of Maccabi fans it is a very dark shade from what i have read now. Especially as they have many ties with the IDF and are openly celebrating the crimes if not partaking in them personally

Yeah, football hooligan stuff was always quite low level insult and physical injure stuff…

          Just like current politics.
Nobody cares about facts anymore, it’s just about my team or fucking up the opponent team.

          And that’s what I’m criticising.
We need to get back to a social level of political discussion, and not just flag raising and emotional bullshit

The fact that the reporting is lopsided does not mean both side are biased. The actual event can have been lopsided, and then one of the media sides is being impartial.

I’m not saying that’s what happened, I don’t know what “really” happened. Neither do you.

        Yeah, true that
Still, interesting to see how media organisations are reporting

I wasn’t taking sides in my statements. i Just was astonished, how different the reports were.
And that alone says pretty much about the news papers.

What actually is true, is probably a completely other thing altogether

Yeah, that’s my read too. Even if they mention it in the report, it’s “Israelis attacked” in the headline from a lot of the big sources.

A user linked this video on /crazyfuckingvideos; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySHIOYyJ95A (requires subtitles)

Media has completely distorted this story framing Isreali hooligans as the victim of being beaten up, while they were doing the beating. It is insane how blatant the lies have gotten. They even chanted “there are no schools in Gaza because all the children are dead”

It should come as no surprise at this point that Israelis have come to believe in an entitlement to act aggressively anywhere in the world and treat any response as illegitimate and unjustifiable. This has become an inherent part of Israeli nationalist culture from top to bottom at this point.

I entirely agree. I deleted this comment and re-commented it on another comment. Was meant to reply to the person but accidentally made a separate comment.
