Russian President Vladimir Putin called Chinese President Xi Jinping his “dear friend,” amid growing cooperation between Moscow and Beijing, as the leaders met at the BRICS summit in Kazan.

“The world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, and the international situation is chaotic and intertwined," Xi told Putin, adding that ties between the countries have “injected strong impetus into the development, revitalization and modernization of the two countries” and “made important contributions to upholding international equity and justice.”

The BRICS alliance refers to a grouping of emerging economies whose core members are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, but has been expanding rapidly to include Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. In addition, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Malaysia have formally applied to become members, while other countries have expressed their interest in joining the alliance.

My comments here to keep the post clean:

I find that event kind of funny, as their comments and talks are very out of touch.

I think they are starting to believe their own propaganda.

What part would you say is out of touch? The quotes in the article provided seem to be standard political messaging you expect from any politician from what I can tell.

Xi told Putin adding that ties between the countries have …

made important contributions to upholding international equity and justice.

I don’t know how he had said that without believing 100% his own propaganda.

I wouldn’t say the first is out of touch. This alliance between them definitely has the potential to be very beneficial. Especially for Russia who has a huge amount of sanctions imposed on it currently. And it’s clear China is trying to diversify it’s economy and move away from being so dependent on the American dollar.

Second one is definitely out of touch. But not unexpected personally. These guys just ooze propaganda.

Somewhere in the depths of Foggy Bottom, an analyst got his wings.

There is nothing more brutally sabotaging to an enemy than forcing them into an alliance with a bunch of morons.

one hand is shaking, the other is holding a knife. they’d happily stab each other in the back if it got them what they wanted in the short term. I don’t see this “friendship” lasting long. they’re waay too narcissistic to work well together.
