EU chiefs assure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy they have the tools to unblock the funds.
The EU will deliver on its promise to give Ukraine a much-needed €90 billion loan, despite Hungary attempting to derail the effort at the last minute, top officials said on Tuesday.
Speaking in Kyiv with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council chief António Costa both insisted that the loan would go ahead soon.
“We will deliver on our word one way or the other,” von der Leyen told reporters. “Let me be clear. We have different options and we will use them.”

Where there’s a will there’s a way, as they say.
And the will was very strong in EU, the only reason EU didn’t force it through sooner, was because we want to have good relations with the new government of Hungary, if the Hungarian people should decide to throw out Orban, which they luckily did.
I was 100% confident that EU would find a way around Orban if necessary. It is of enormous importance and high priority to Europe that we help Ukraine win this war.
But to be fair, I’m from Denmark, and we are the strongest supporters of Ukraine in the world. So I’m biased too, but I know it, and I try to be careful not to base my expectations too much on it.
We are also the country in EU with the least confidence in USA now, in part because of Greenland, but AFAIK we were already before that.
USA is near irrelevant politically to us now.
When EU politicians sweet talk Trump, the agenda is quite different. But I guess you figured that out too, when looking at the actions of EU.
